Health is a priority of 2021 – Salary increase for doctors and reimbursement of medicines for COVID-19

Health will be one of the main priorities of the budget for next year, which is projected to increase by 23.3 percent for this sector. During the discussions of the draft budget 2021 in the plenary session, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that investments will continue and in the meantime salaries will increase by 40 percent for white shirts.

On the other hand, Rama said that from January 1, 2021, free treatment of patients affected by Covid 19 will be guaranteed.

Despite the two consecutive shocks that the Albanian economy received as a result of the November 26 earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic, the draft budget for 2021 predicts economic recovery. Total revenues are projected to increase 10.6%, while public expenditures for 2021 are planned at ALL 587.6 billion or 34.9% of GDP.
