IMF projects better performance for Albania in terms of demand, prices and employment
The International Monetary Fund has not changed its opinion regarding the performance of the Albanian economy in general terms.
The latest IMF projections show that Albania’s economic growth will be at about 3.7% this year and 3.8% next year, just like it was estimated in the past projections in October.
But, meanwhile, the IMF has praised the performance of the economy over the past year, from a 3.7% increase, up to 3.9%.
Projections for Kosovo, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina during this year and the next have been revised to significant growth, which has also produced Albania’s sliding into the second place in the region as far as economic growth rate is concerned.
The good news is that Kosovo is ranked first, with a growth of nearly 4% for the next two years.
Regarding gross domestic product per capita, new mid-term projections show that by 2022, growth will increase to 4.1%.
But while for the Albanian economy growth projections have not changed, other projections have fluctuated.
One of them is the growth of domestic demand, with a revision of more than 1 percentage point.
Projections for the performance of the labor market have also been slightly revised in positive territory.
Regarding inflation, meanwhile, prices are not expected to grow steadily as it was previously thought.
One of the indicators that has been revised negatively is that of public debt, where there is no optimism at all.
