Impact of Covid-19 on the Albanian economy – Seenews report: Albania with one of the lowest government aid rates
Seenews has published a comprehensive report on the impact of covid-19 in all 11 countries in Southeast Europe. In the profile dedicated to Albania, the report says that, in 2021, the Albanian economy is expected to return to pre-crisis levels. In terms of impact on certain sectors, tourism, trade and transport are projected to be most affected by the crisis, down with 19.1%. They are followed by construction, manufacturing with about 10% each, followed by real estate and finally art and entertainment with a 2.6% decline.
In terms of government assistance to recover the economy hit hard by the crisis, Albania ranks third in the bottom in the region of Southeast Europe, and penultimate in the Western Balkans. With a rate of 2.8% government incentives in relation to Gross Domestic Product, worse than Albania is only Kosovo and Moldova among the 11 countries analyzed in the report.
