Income per capita: With ALL 513k, Albanians’ average is at 12.8% of the EU
The average per capita income of an Albanian is ALL 513 thousand.
The latest annual estimate of Institute of Statistics shows that for the year 2016, the average of the welfare of Albanians grew in modest proportions, by about 3% compared to 2015.
Even this growth did not come from any increase in the gross domestic production, but also because of the collapse of the total population, a phenomenon that has been going on for years.
According to the World Bank’s comparative figures, at about $ 4,100 per capita, Albania remains the third poorest in Europe, leaving behind only Kosovo and Moldova.
The overall output per capita in Albania is 12.8% of the average production in the European Union, which among other things shows the differences of the economic integration inside the Union.
Compared to the richest country, Luxembourg, per capita production in Albania is only 4%.
INSTAT data showed that for 2016 Albania still has a deeply-oriented service economy.
Agriculture and industry, taken together, contributed only 0.5 percentage points to an economic growth that INSTAT estimated at 3.35%.
The overwhelming part of growth came from services and especially from commercial activity.
