Inflation at 1.6% – Food group has largest impact by 1.34%
The Consumer Price Index remained unchanged at 1.6% even in September 2017, marking the lowest rate of 2017.
A year earlier the month-to-month change was 1.8%, confirming the downward trend.
As in previous months, the “food and non-alcoholic beverages” group had a major impact on the growth, with 1.34 percentage points.
The prices for this group from year to year increased by 3.5%, marking an improvement over August.
A positive effect came from the group “Rent, water, fuel and energy”, contributing by 0.22 percentage points.
Over the last few months, prices in this group have remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, all other groups of consumer goods or services reported a negligible annual fluctuation, while “Clothing and Footwear” groups and “Furniture, household appliances and home maintenance” dropped, contributing negatively by 0.06 and 0.05 percentage points.
Compared to August 2017, the biggest rise in prices was observed in the “Clothing and footwear” group by 2.4%, followed by the “Entertainment and Culture” group with 2.2%, as well as “Food and nonalcoholic beverages” with 0.5 %, etc.
The biggest decrease in prices was observed in the “Health” and “Furniture, Home and Maintenance” groups by 0.1% each.
