Inflation “restores” itself within the logic – The rise in food prices avoids deflation

The inflation rate in our country has dropped to 0.4% during the first month of this year. This rate is convincingly beyond the central bank target, which “targets” a rate close to 3%, but on the other hand, is within the logical framework of the situation. During the last year, at the height of the economic crisis caused by the penny, consumer prices in our country increased by unjustifiable steps, placing us among the first countries in Europe in this regard. The decline in consumption did not at all justify this strange trajectory. But, the January figures seem to have reversed this trend, recording the lowest rate of price increase since mid-2016. Since 2007, when instat also has this data public, this is the rate of 4- lower monthly inflation, in annual terms. Only February, March and April 2016 recorded lower values, but never passed into deflationary territory.
