Investment-GDP ratio: Albania ranks fifth in Europe
In Europe, only Turkey, Kosovo, the Czech Republic and Ireland have a higher investment rate than Albania relative to Gross Domestic Product.
The latest Eurostat data show that Albania is the 5th in Europe in this ranking, at a rate that extends to 24.5% of Gross Domestic Product.
The indicator in question refers to the formation of gross capital and takes into account both public and private investments.
Data for Albania refer to 2016, while for 2017 there are no updated data.
However, preliminary data from the International Monetary Fund show a rate of 24.8%, while this year the projected figure is at 24.5%.
The average of the European Union countries, but also those of the 19 countries that share the common currency, rose to about 20%.
In 2007, meanwhile, in Albania, this rate was around 36.4%, the second highest on the continent.
From 2000 to 2008, this indicator in the country has been above the 30% level, which is a peculiar feature of developing countries.
In Europe, meanwhile, the Czech Republic is ranked first in this classification, with a rate of 25% for 2016 and 25.2% for 2017.
United Kingdom, which ranks in the last spot, has a figure of 16.9% of the value of investments in relation to GDP.
