Macedonia’s success in business climate and attracting investments will help Albania: FM Bushati
Macedonia’s success in the business climate and attracting foreign investment will also help Albania since the two countries are committed to intensifying their relations.
The statement was made by Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati, asked by TV SCAN about the steps to be followed in strengthening the economic diplomacy between the two countries.
The Minister hosted his Macedonian counterpart at a two-party meeting, while stressing that the economic potential is little exploited due to infrastructure problems.
“With regard to economic diplomacy, the formulas are somewhat similar in terms of how diplomacy and other state agencies can become promoters of the country’s development. Trade development potential is also poorly exploited due to the difficulties we have in infrastructure and the lack of attention by our European partners. I think that a new political climate would better serve the exploitation of this potential. On the other hand, I believe that we have what to learn from Macedonia, when we always refer to Macedonia’s success in dealing with several indicators with the business climate and attracting foreign investment”, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to Bushat, during the meeting the two sides agreed to strengthen economic relations, as trade between Albania and Macedonia is far from the potential.
“We agreed on a renewed and intensified dialogue between our two countries in favor of a higher degree of cooperation, directly in the interest of economic development, economic relations and our common Euro-Atlantic path. The ambition of our two countries is to have a better economic and trade project, agreeing that today trade exchange and economic cooperation between our two countries is far from potential. Tourist trips from Macedonia are impressive. This means that we will promote our tourism for Macedonian citizens who want to visit our shores and not just for Albanians in Macedonia,” Bushati said.
The two foreign ministers announced a joint meeting between the two governments , which is expected to take place in the town of Pogradec in October.
The focus of this meeting will be the prioritization of strategic projects, in order to secure European funds.
