Money in circulation increases by 0.6% – During February it reached the value of ALL 356 billion, increasing by ALL 56 billion in one year
The money supply index increased slightly during February of this year, to reach the figure of 356 billion ALL, which translates into about 2.9 billion euros. The slight increase, of 0.6% in monthly terms, comes after the decline of this indicator in the first month of the year. In terms of monthly change, the growth is slightly lower than in February of the previous year, when money in circulation increased by 0.8%.
Compared to February of the previous year, there are about ALL 56 billion more money in circulation in the Albanian economy, or about EUR 50 million, according to official figures from the Bank of Albania. The indicator that speaks of 356 billion ALL in circulation during February has thus touched a new historical level.
Money in circulation measures only the level of local currency in circulation and no foreign currency, calculating the difference between the money issued by the Bank of Albania and the amount of money still in the institution’s coffers, ie the entire amount of Albanian lek that is in circulation in the system, outside the doors of the Bank of Albania.
