Moody’s praises Albania’s performance citing satisfactory fiscal indicators
The latest report of Moody’s credit rating agency, exclusively seen by SCAN, underlines that Albania’s public debt will continue to decline gradually in line with fiscal consolidation.
The government targets a budget deficit of 2% of the Gross Domestic Product for the current year, while budget performance for the 9 months of 2017 has been positive, with a consolidated general budget, recording a deficit of ALL 2.5 billion or 0.2% of the Gross Domestic Product, compared to a target deficit of ALL 7.8 billion.
The performance of revenue collection has also been very positive, Moody`s assesses in this report, estimating revenue growth by 7.2% compared to the same period of the previous year as a result of heavy tax collection, especially by local government and social security.
As far as expenditure are concerned, Moody’s has not spared its criticism, since they it results under the government’s own expectations, despite June’s elections.
Moody’s projected a budget deficit of 1.7% for this year, below government projections, and 2% for next year’s budget.
