Municipalities in Albania, $20 million more investments in 2019
61 municipalities across the country are foreseen to make more investments in favor of improving the quality of life of residents in their territory. In the draft budget of 2019, local government investments with own resources are projected to be about ALL 2 billion or 20 million more than a year ago. Increasing investment and improving public services are arguing with changes in the local budget structure after the administrative-territorial reform.
In the last two years, 45 percent of the local unit budget has gone for investment. While revenue from taxes and fees in 2019 is forecast to be ALL 21.6 billion or 13 percent higher than in the current year. The largest revenue share and tax on property, infrastructure impact tax on new constructions, and the tax on occupying public spaces.
Also, the unconditional transfer will increase in the next year, which will be 1 percent of GDP or $ 10 million more than 2018. It is also expected to increase spending by around ALL 4 billion more than the year actual.
