Municipalities spend 250 euros per capita – Only 1/3 goes to investment
61 municipalities in the country have spent on average about 30,541 ALL or about 250 euros per capita during 2019, in fulfillment of the functions and competencies defined in the law. The report on public finances for the past year points out that according to the source of funding, expenditures with its own funds result in an increase of 15.7 percent in annual terms, or about 20 thousand ALL per capita, while the rest is covered by conditional funds, which decreased by 12.6 percent in annual terms.
In total, about 85.4 billion ALL were spent by municipalities at the end of 2019, an increase of 4 percent compared to the previous year.
Translated into monetary value, total current expenditures amounted to ALL 60.6 billion, increasing by 3.1 percent in annual terms, where only personnel spending received ALL 22.4 billion, while the rest consists of transfers to family budgets, economic assistance, disability payments, etc. On the other hand, 24.8 billion ALL went for investments, where, although increased by 6.4 percent in annual terms, they still occupy a small share in the money spent.
