Negotiations for Albania-Greece railway line under way
The Albanian government is negotiating with the Greek authorities to build a railway linking Albania with Greece.
The project is in the stage of feasibility study and is expected to be adopted in April.
The new initiative is being discussed between the Ministries of Transport of the two countries and the whole project amounts to about 1 million euro.
At a meeting held on Monday, the Law Commission of the Parliament approved the ratification of the loan agreement between the Republic of Albania and EBRD for financing the project “Albanian Railways – Rehabilitation of the railway line Tirana – Durres and construction of the railway line to the International Tirana Airport”.
The contrustion work for this railway line is expected to start by September this year and the deadline for completing the project is around 3 years.
