New lending in Albanian economy hits ALL 21.7 billion per month
The banking system has provided more loans over the past year.
Although the renewal of lending to the economy is still fragile, the statistics show that the new lending is improving significantly.
For the 11-month period of 2017, the banking system disbursed over ALL 238 billion in new loans, up by 13% over the same period of the previous year.
For the 11 months of 2017, the average monthly amount of the new loan amounted to ALL 21.7 billion, from ALL 19.1 billion, which was the average lending for the 11-month period of 2016.
Although in terms of lending surplus, the improvement is still not significant due to the fact that the loan granted by the Albanian banking system has for the most part short-term maturity and requires relatively frequent overhaul on time.
New lending has grown in both businesses and individuals, suggesting a positive trend for improving lending to the economy.
The banking system last year has provided an average of EUR 35 million for households and some EUR 128 million for businesses.
