NFA blocks 26 tons of imported chicken meat after analysis showed presence of Salmonella
A quantity of 26 tons of chicken meat, originating from Brazil, has been blocked by inspectors of the National Food Authority at Durres Border Inspection Point after it was found that it contained salmonella spp.
The load, imported by a company named AMG, entered Albania on 3 May 2017. Samples were taken for analysis by the Institute of Food Safety and Veterinary after the blocking of this load.
Following the report of the analysis dated 10.05.2017, it turned out that this load imported from Brazil contained salmonella spp.
The load with chicken meat continues to remain blocked at the Border Inspection Point in Durres for further proceedings.
In the press release, the National Food Authority claims that it follows step by step all legal procedures to guarantee food security for the Albanian consumers.
