No tax increase in new budget, claims Minister Ahmetaj

At a time when different Albania media are circulating various 2018 budget and fiscal package variants, Minister of Finance and Economy Arben Ahmetaj has tried to discard all speculations by stating his stance on the prospect of tax increase.

Asked by SCAN TV, what will the new fiscal package contain and when will it be made public to citizens and business, the minister replied:

“There is no tax increase. Regarding the new fiscal package you will have to be patient for some other 6 days, and you can see it and read it. It will be adopted next week in government and I believe it will be passed on to the parliament.”

Currently, only a few fiscal interventions have been made, which have already been articulated by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance.

The PM and the Minister have stated that VAT will be extended to small businesses, while a recalculation of the wealth tax formula and a zero-tax for five-star hotels will also be introduced.
