“Outdoor masks did not reduce infections” – MPs: Effects should be evaluated!
Deputies of the Parliamentary Committee on Health demand an assessment of the effects of the imposition of the obligation to wear the mask outdoors. While discussing the Normative Act for this obligation and punitive measures in case of its violation, MP Klodiana Spahiu said that it has already been about a month since the entry into force of the normative act, so such an assessment is necessary.
However, according to the daily reports of the Ministry of Health for young people infected with COVID-19, this obligation has not brought effects in terms of reducing the curve of those infected.
TV SCAN has processed the official data, as it turns out that for the period 14 September-14 October, when wearing a mask was not mandatory in open spaces, the total number of infected reached 4591.
While, from October 15 when wearing the mask became mandatory, from the moment of leaving the house until November 10, the number of newly infected has reached 9353 or over 50% more than the previous month. Practically, these data may show that wearing a mask outdoors is not effective in preventing infection, but this is refuted by scientific data show that the opposite or reflect the fact that Albanian citizens have not complied with the obligation to wear a mask the proper way, which is to cover the mouth and nose. For this reason, the Health Commission also called for the correct wearing of the mask.
