Pandemic hits the insurance market – Number of contracts drops by 30%, claims paid by companies increased by 24%
The insurance market is one of the most affected by the Covid Pandemic 19. The recently published data from the Financial Supervision Authority show a significant reduction of concluded contracts, accompanied by an increase in indemnities, while they were the segment of border insurance and of travel abroad the one who has suffered the strongest blow.
According to the data published by the Financial Supervision Authority, Income from gross written insurance premiums for the period January-November 2020 amounted to over ALL 14,772 million, or 5.51% less than in the period January-November 2019. During the period January- November 2020, the number of concluded insurance contracts reached 857,503 with a decrease of 29.20% compared to the period January-November 2019.
