Park of Europe inaugurated in Albanian capital
Park of Europe, the newest park behind the monument of the National Hero in Skanderbeg Square, has been inaugurated today.
Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, accompanied by the Director-General for Enlargement at the European Commission Chrisitan Danielsson, EU Ambassador Romana Vlahutin and representatives of EU member states in Albania planted trees in this park in the context of the Day of Europe.
According to Veliaj, this park, which is now a fully dedicated space for people, represents the European ambition of the citizens of Albania.
“The reason why this is called Europa Park, is because it is close to the Skanderbeg square because our European ambition has been present since the Skanderbeg era. Even from the urban point of view, it is a nice metaphor because we have the fun and the noise at the square, but we can have the quiet and the order here at the Europa Park”, Veliaj declared.
Veliaj stressed that the Municipality of Tirana represents in some way the European Union, because according to him a large number of staff working to implement different projects in the city have brought their experiences as students or immigrants in Europe.
