PM Rama meets President Macron, stresses reforms and negotiations
Albanian PM Edi Rama had the opportunity to meet with the President of France Emmanuel Macron during the Trieste Summit.
PM Rama has announced the meeting with Macron through a posting on Facebook.
“In Trieste with President Emmanuel Macron, for the Europe we want, for our region as part of it and for Albania’s European path where we are preparing a set of reforms and negotiations with the European Union.”
The Trieste Summit for the Western Balkans was held on July 12, 2017, as the next stage of the Berlin Process, in the context of the summits organized in Berlin in 2014, Vienna in 2015 and Paris in 2016.
During the Summit, the Prime Ministers of the five countries of the region and the leaders of the European Union signed the “Treaty of Transport Community,” which sets on a new legal basis the modernization of the infrastructure network in the region, aiming at creating an integrated market of transport and alignment according to EU rules.
Regarding the establishment of a “Regional Economic Zone”, countries in the region adopted an action plan to facilitate the exchange of goods, services, capital and skilled labor.
These steps aim to make the region more attractive for investment and trade exchanges, accelerating rapprochement with the EU and bringing economic growth and employment for the citizens of the region.
