PM Rama presents the design of Air Albania expected to be established by yearend
Prime Minister Rama has posted on his Facebook page what seems to be an illustration of the final design that will be carried by the aircraft of the new Albanian airline expected to be established soon.
The line will be called Air Albania and the design contains motives of the national flag, intertwined with elements such as the eagle’s wings placed on the tail of the aircraft.
Near the first door, next to the cockpit, we can distinguish the Albanian flag, a position similar to that of some airlines like the Malaysian Air Asia, while Turkish Airlines has a flag in the middle of the aircraft’s plane.
Considering the specifications of the plane, SCAN has learned that the model most likely is that of the Airbus A320-200, a model widely used by the Turkish company, which currently has its fleet of about 24 such aircraft.
The airplane has a maximum capacity of 153 passengers, of which 12 seats are in the first class. The cost of this model is estimated at around 94 million euros.
During the summer, Prime Minister Rama announced that flights would begin within this year, something that was confirmed by Turkish Airlines, assisting the Albanian government in establishing a domestic company.
However, it seems that with the completion of the design, the aircraft that the fleet will use will soon be ready for operation.
The domestic Albanian company will offer flights from Rinas to the region and other countries of the world.
Cooperation with Turkish Airlines has been described as a great opportunity for success by Turkish line leaders.
The chairman of the Executive Board, Ilker Ayci said that expectations are that Air Albania will benefit from the decline of Italian companies’ activity in Albania, thus creating a high business opportunity for this strategic partnership.
This line is expected to operate initially at normal prices, not low-cost, because, as PM Rama has previously stated, the concession contract with Rinas Airport, despite renegotiation, has made it difficult to introduce low-cost companies.
Along with the prices and destinations to be offered, what remains to be revealed now are details of the number of staff to be hired and the plan to expand the company.
In parallel, the establishment of the domestic airline will be accompanied by another project leader, the construction of the new Vlora regional airport, which is expected to further promote tourism, facilitating the arrival of foreigners wishing to visit the South of the country.
The airline market in Albania has grown remarkably year-on-year, while at the end of September it had more than 2 million passengers, or 24.6% more than a year earlier.
