PM Rama received by Turkey’s Erdogan as Vlora Airport, Air Albania projects taking shape
Prime Minister Edi Rama met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul.
Rama wrote on his Facebook page that the discussions revolved around main joint projects, such as Vlora Airport, Air Albania airline, and other similar projects.
“A working dinner with president Erdogan to discuss the economic cooperation between the two countries: International Vlora Airport and Air Albania that are already under way”, Rama wrote after the meeting.
The visit came after Prime Minister Edi Rama met in Brussels with “Friends of Albania” members, at the European Parliament.
“New projects in tourism and energy, We also talked about Turkey’s support for our new program against floods”, Rama added.
Albania is facing in recent years an unexpected bad situation with floods, especially in winter months.
After it came to power, Albania’s Socialist government shifted its foreign policy toward Turkey from a preferential to a strategic partnership, a move that reflects, among other things, the growth of Turkey’s investments in the region.
