Record growth in Albanian Airline industry – 44% Italian destinations, 3 companies leading the list

2018 marked a record increase in the number of passengers at the International Airport “Mother Teresa”. According to official data, reported by the Civil Aviation Authority, during the year that we left we traveled 2,947,000 passengers, or 12% more compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, as far as the airline market is concerned, the largest influx of passengers keeps the Italian company “Blue Panorama” with 21% of the total, followed by “Ernest S.p.A” with 12% of the total.

The company “Albawings” has a high market share in 2018 with 11% of the total. As far as the companies with the lowest number of passengers are concerned, the last in the list remains the company “Mistral Air” as a result of the shutdown of operations in April. Also a low number of passengers has marked the company “Volotea” with 14,516 passengers a year.

In July and August has been recorded the highest number of passengers, which is due to the increased number of charter companies operating in Albania. Meanwhile, for 2018, airline companies accepted and 1200 requests for compensation from one of the passengers affected by delays or cancellations of flights.
