Restoring Tirana’s Pyramid: Municipality signs agreement with American Development Fund
Tirana’s Pyramid will soon be transformed into a multifunctional center for youth, mainly focused on digital education, art and culture.
To make possible its transformation, the Municipality of Tirana has signed a cooperation agreement with the Albanian American Development Foundation (AADF).
“We’re taking the first formal step for formalizing an agreement between Tirana Municipality and AADF to transform the Pyramid of Tirana, the most iconic building of our city, into the largest youth center, mainly focused on digital education, technology information and in the function of art, culture and professional courses or other youth spaces,” Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj said.
Veliaj stated that the project is divided into two phases: first, the rehabilitation of the building, and second, its good management, as it will welcome up to 5 thousand young people a day.
Currently, the Municipality of Tirana is holding talks with some of the best architects’ studios and within May a presentation of what will happen to the Pyramid will be made known to the public in general.
About 5,000 young people who will attend the transformed Pyramid premises will have the opportunity to attend various courses in the field of IT and communications, as well as design, programming, and so on
