Russia expands list of banned import products, Albanian products included
Russia has expanded the import ban list on agricultural products, raw and basic materials as well as food products.
The Kremlin has decided to adopt a tit-for-tat policy with the countries that opposed the annexation of Crimea and supported Ukrainian nationalists by imposing sanctions against Russia.
Thus, in a sign of revenge, Russia has decided to close the doors of the Russian market to products coming from these countries.
Until now, the ban only included the countries of the European Union and the United States, while the list now includes Albania, Canada, Australia, Norway, Ukraine, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
The ban will last until 31 December 2018, while the following products have been added to the list:
Pigs
Fresh, chilled or frozen edible products derived from cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, mules, etc.
Fresh, chilled, frozen, salted, pickled, dried or smoked pig fat, separated from meat
Flax, uninhabited
Pig fat (including bacon) and poultry fat
Beef, goat, sheep fat
Ingredients deriving from fat, processed in any kind of form
The ban on exports is not expected to have any detrimental effect on the Albanian economy, as products exported to Russia hold a very small share in total exports of the country, at only ALL 87 million for January-September 2017.
