Scan Exclusive: Annual leaves for public employees suspended until July 1 as election campaign looms
Employees of the Ministry of Finance and depending institutions such as Tax Administration and Customs Administration will have to reschedule their annual leave this year, if they plan to carry it out in the period May 25 to June 30.
Meanwhile, those who have already started the holidays will have to stop them and get back to work.
The new Finance Minister Helga Vukaj has issued an order according to which, employees and officials of the ministry and of the depending institutions, who benefit an annual paid holiday, have to suspend their annual leaves for the period May 25, 2017 until June 30 2017, a period coinciding with the election campaign.
According to this order, all employees who currently are on annual leave, shall be notified about suspending their annual leave and postponing it after July 1, 2017, SCAN reports.
Planning and execution of annual leaves, according to the order of minister Vukaj, will resume from July 1 2017 onwards, according to the legislation in power.
Any failures in implementing this order brings disciplinary responsibility according to the legislation, claims the Minister.
