SCAN exclusive: Moody’s improves projections on Albania’s economic performance
Moody’s, just two months after the recent report for Albania, has revised projections for the Albanian economy during this year and the next one.
The most recent projections are published in the report on general statistics, which is published every 6 months and has been exclusively seen by SCAN.
According to the latest report, it turns out that the Albanian economy according to Moody`s will increase by 3.9% this year, from 3.6% projected just two months ago.
For next year, the economic growth is projected at 3.9%, from 3.8% estimated on October 2 this year.
Moddy’s claims that in 2019 the economic growth will be at 4%, making it one of the most optimistic international institutions in terms of the performance of the Albanian economy in the years to come.
Moreover, Moody’s is more optimistic than the Albanian government in terms of economic growth this year.
Also, Moody’s is in contrast with other international institutions about foreign direct investment, since it predicts a modest decline in the years ahead, as it has revised its projections compared with two months ago.
For this year, projections show that foreign direct investment will be at 7.7% of GDP, next year at 7.4% and in 2019 at 7.1% of the Gross Domestic Product.
This revision of projections for the Albanian economy comes only a few days before the agency publishes the latest assessment on Albania’s sovereign debt rating.
