Skavica hec plans – Budget financing, KESH: Feasibility study will be ready in 2020
Prime Minister Edi Rama’s statements have once again drawn attention to the Skavica hydropower plant, which has not been built for years, despite efforts to find funding for the project. But, while the government plans to build it through the state budget, during 2020 the Albanian Electric Power Corporation predicts that it will have a feasibility study for this hydropower plant.
The cost of the study is worth 1.5m euros, a fund allocated to KESH by the Western Balkans Investment Framework, an instrument of the European Union. The study is being carried out by the group of consultants of the IPF6 Consortium (Infrastructure Project Facility). The drafting of the feasibility study and Social-Environmental Impact Assessment started in January 2019, while according to KESH, this document will enable the project to meet the expectations for a work that will be an integral part of the cascade on the Drin River, a cascade with strategic approach for the energy sector and the Albanian economy.
