The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly increased social expenditures, where in the 10-month period they result in almost ALL 3.3 billion or EUR 26.6 million higher compared to the same period of the previous year. If we make an analysis of the official data of the Ministry of Finance, this year marks the maximum level of expenditures made in this regard since 2010.
It seems that most of them have received economic aid payments, where 19.8 billion ALL have been spent as a result of increased support for families in need due to the difficulty created by taking anti-COVID measures and the November 26 earthquake. Also, despite the fact that thousands of citizens became unemployed as a result of staff cuts by businesses, received war salaries from financial packages 1 and 2, there are those who have not returned to work, but have become part of the unemployment benefit scheme.
