SP-DP deal: Opposition to propose 6 ministers, 5 directors, and a deputy prime minister
General elections will be held on 25 June 2017. This is the first point with which begins the agreement between Prime Minister Edi Rama and Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha.
The agreement in question details how the electoral process will be held, in order for it to be transparent and how partial elections in Kavaja will be held on the same date as the general election.
The official draft of the agreement states that PM Rama has offered to the opposition the technical post of the Deputy Prime Minister, and those of the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Education, Minister of Health, Social Welfare and Youth Minister, Minister of Finance and Minister of Justice.
He also offered five key posts, that of the OSHEE director, Director General of ALUIZNI, Director General of the Immovable Properties Registration Office, the Director General of Prisons and General Director of the Rural Agricultural Development Agency.
The agreement also provides that the voting of the members of the Council of Ministers, members of vetting bodies and the legislation related with it, will be carried out in the same extraordinary session of parliament, which the sides have yet to decide when it will be held.
As far as independent bodies, the opposition proses the CEC Chairman and the Ombudsman.
Some important reforms such as the electoral and constitutional reforms are expected to be voted by the new legislature that will come out from the June 25 elections.
