Special anti-corruption unit is created / Control over administration set up, will punish abusive practices!
The government has decided to set up a special anti-corruption and anti-vigilance unit to ensure that there will be no violations of law by public institution employees, given recent tax and customs cases, such as VAT fraud. Under a government decision that has come into force, the entity will be subordinate to the prime minister and is intended to detect, treat and punish abusive, corrupt or arbitrary practices. The decision specifically stipulates that the Unit supervises the inspection activity of public institutions in punishing corruption cases; Coordinates institutions for initiating administrative investigations or audits, mainly with indications from public institutions or at the request of interested parties, in case of suspicions of corrupt practices related to the activity of public institutions; collects, analyzes and verifies data and evidence from various sources, performing all necessary actions for the fulfillment of duties, insofar as they do not conflict with the legislation in force; referring corrupt and abusive practices to the competent prosecution, in case of suspicion of consuming the elements of the criminal offense; Performs verifications and audits at all public institutions, in order to guarantee the treatment and prosecution of corrupt or abusive cases.
The Special Unit will focus on cases of corruption, abuse or abuse of structures in:
a) Public administration;
b) public services;
c) Land Regime (compensation, legalization, rent, concessions etc.)
ç) Permits, licenses and authorizations
d) Public procurement;
dh) Possible criminal offenses in the tax and customs area.
Each institution is obliged to make available the required documents and materials for the unit. Employees of the Unit, including full-time employees from other institutions, receive an additional 50,000 ALL per month, while part-time employees receive an additional 25,000 ALL per month.
