“Tax relief for Durrës” – Chamber of Commerce, requests to 3 municipalities: Exemption and deferral of payments

The Durrës Chamber of Commerce and Industry is requesting a series of facilitation measures from the Municipal Councils in Durrës, Shijak and Kruja in terms of local taxes and fees for businesses. According to the Chamber, the claims are based on the aggravated situation created, not only by COVID-19, but also by the November 26 earthquake, which affected a significant number of businesses.

For this reason, the abolition of local taxes and fees is required for all closed businesses due to the new coronavirus. A 20% reduction in local taxes and fees for 2020 is also required for all businesses, without exception. Another request is related to the extension of the deadline for payment of taxes and local fees for the second half of the year, by liquidating in installments.

Also, the exclusion of the tourism business is required, such as hotels, restaurants or beaches, as well as the transport of passengers from local taxes and fees for the calendar year 2020. For those who have paid these taxes, it is suggested to index for 2021.
