The level of loans is falling. Q2 slightly shrinks loan portfolio, but not for Durrës, Elbasan, Vlora and Lezha

As with deposits, the loan also declined slightly during the second quarter of the year. During the first quarter, credit in the banking sector amounted to ALL 380 billion in total, while in the second quarter it decreased to ALL 374 billion. Even in this case, the effect of the downturn seems to be purely seasonal and detached from the consequences of the pandemic and economic crisis that has accompanied it.

The second quarter of the year has historically been accompanied by a decline in the loan portfolio in the Albanian banking sector. But in the case of loans, what stands out, unlike what happened to deposits in the second quarter, is the performance by counties. Among the 8 large counties taken in the analysis, 4 of them, ie half, record an increase in debt, although quite easy. These regions are: Durrës, Elbasan, Vlora and Lezha. Tirana, Shkodra, Korça and Fieri, meanwhile, recorded a slight decline in the loan portfolio in the second quarter of the year.
