The market grows by 14% – 2.3 million passengers for 9 months in air transport

The tourist season this year seems to be prolonged. The air transport market for passengers is an indirect test. According to Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), the number of passengers traveling from Tirana airport for September reached 299 thousand, a 12% increase compared to the previous year. For the nine-month period, nearly 2.3 million passengers traveled from Tirana Airport, up 14% over the same period a year earlier.

Instat data showed that for the first nine months of this year, Albania was visited by 5.1 million foreign nationals, increasing by 20% compared to the same period of the previous year. While the outflow of Albanians abroad reached 4.1 million, up 3% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The passenger air transport market is growing for the seventh consecutive year and the potentials are still large. In parallel, the transport of passengers by sea this year has affected a kind of stagnation. For the 9-month period, the number of passengers was 1.3 million, an increase of only 1.6% compared to the same period last year.
