Tirana Municipality, EBRD sign deal involving investments in water systems
The Municipality of Tirana and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have signed in London an agreement for investments in the capital city’s water system.
“I’m looking forward to the two main investments: First the expansion of the capacity of Bovilla, which is our filtering system. We will double the amount of water that will be filtered for the city of Tirana. Secondly, this funding enables us a new line, from the lake of Bovilla to the area of the New Ring Road. When residents first moved in this area, it was supplied by well water and enticed by cheap prices, many people took hasty decisions without thinking that this area, which now has 80 thousand residents, cannot be supplied with well water”, Veliaj declared.
Meanwhile, the head of EBRD for Albania, Matteo Colangeli, said that this is the first time that the bank funds a project of the municipality without the support of the state budget.
