Tourism operators hail VAT reduction from 20 to 6%

Business associations hail the decision of the government to reduce the VAT for tourism or hotels.

The reduction of the rate of VAT to 6 per cent on accommodation facilities in the tourism sector will facilitate business and increase revenues to the state budget.

The head of the Association of Hotels Zak Topuzi stated that this decision will benefit to 3,900 accommodation units, including hotels, motels and guest houses.

The country has a tourism capacity of 60 thousand beds.

“This initiative will make the country competitive in the region and will promote investment in tourism,” claim the associations.

On the other hand, the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nikolin Jaka said the government’s decision will result in the reduction of informality in the tourism sector.
