Tourism, remittances is how Albania will benefit from Eurozone in 2018: Vienna Institute IES
Just like the previous year, Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies has published the 10 themes for Central, East and Southeast Europe (CESEE) for 2018.
Albania is also classified among these countries.
In total there are 20 countries, a significant part of which are members of the European Union.
Vienna Institute underlines that the most beneficial countries that will continue to benefit during this year will be those that have strong trade relations with Germany.
Balkan countries, especially, underlines the Vienna Institute, will benefit this year from the boom of the Western European economy, especially those countries that depend on tourism and remittances.
Albania is one of the tangible cases of this dual dependence.
As far as economic growth is concerned, this graph illustrates that Albania is in the middle of the ranking, but above all the Western Balkan countries.
Claiming that “[p]olitical noise notwithstanding, the region’s economies are in a sweet spot, and should continue to ride the booming Eurozone wave this year,” the Vienna Institute underscores that this is worth more for the Balkans and Ukraine.
Unemployment is projected to continue to decline this year.
The Western Balkans is the most problematic in the region in this regard, as the chart shows.
Regarding inflation, the Vienna Institute specifies that it will grow, especially in the Balkans.
Among the main risks for the region, the Vienna Institute underlines the monetary policy and the sudden movements of the European Central Bank or the Federal Reserve that will have an inevitable impact on the countries of the region, especially those with a high level of debt, mainly in the two main currencies, Euro or Dollar.
Another risk, and that will continue to be a problem throughout the year is also politics, states the Vienna Institute.
