Trade “ignores” Covid-19 / February 2020, the month with the highest value of imports with China
The outbreak of Covid-19 in China earlier this year seems to have not affected our country’s trade flows with the world’s second-largest economy.
Despite the fact that the January data signaled a slight slowdown, the February data appear to refute this hypothesis. The February data thus indicate an increase in China’s monetary value imports, both in monthly terms, compared to the preceding month, January 2020, as in annual terms, as compared to February 2019.
In monthly terms, the growth is fixed at 1.5%, while in annual terms it is at 23%. Our country’s imports from China in February this year are fixed at about 4.2 billion leks, which translates to about 35 million euros. This is the highest figure ever recorded in February in our trade with China.
High-value products, such as nuclear reactors, or machinery, are the products at the top of the list, followed by clothing items.
