Trade “makes a name” in Albania, the first of small and medium enterprises – Energy and water, at the bottom of the list

The trade sector is the one that dominates small and medium enterprises in Albania, with specifically 40% of the market. On the other hand, the opposite happens with the electricity, water and waste management sectors, which have the lowest percentage of SMEs, at 0.6%.

According to the latest report of the Institute of Statistics, trade owns about 30% of the employees of Small and Medium Enterprises. Meanwhile, the extractive industry sector has only 1.8% of SME employees.

On the other hand, in a general overview, the publication of Instat on 2019 shows that the percentage of SMEs is 99.8% the same as those of European Union countries, while the percentage of employees in this group of enterprises is 81.6% in Albania , from 66.7% in the EU.
