Traffic accidents rose in January, 75% of cases caused by drivers
In the first month of 2018 the number of accidents has increased compared to the same period of the previous year.
Thus, in January 2018, 134 road accidents were recorded from 119 accidents that occurred in January 2017, increasing by 12.6%.
According to INSTAT data in January 2018, the number of casualties was 175 out of 158 that was a year ago, increasing by 10.8%.
But if compared to the average number of casualties throughout the year 2017, this number has decreased by 19.6%.
Also, the number of wounded people compared to last year decreased by 18.6 percent.
What is striking is that January has a high number of casualties compared to January 2017, marking 162 cases out of 136.
In January 2018, the number of deaths from accidents was 13 persons out of 22 a year earlier for the same period, falling by 40.9%.
In January 2018, road accidents, in 74.6% of cases, occurred as a result of the driver’s behavior.
The highest number of accidents in this period was carried out by the age group 45-60, accounting for 24.6% of the number of road accidents, up by 50.0 compared to the same period of the previous year.
