UN: Albania has the second largest tourist growth in 2018
The current year will close with a positive record for Albania. The United Nations Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) data showed that Albania is the second country in Europe with the fastest growing tourism this year. Turkey is in the first place. Thus, despite the late summer and the rains that occupy a large part of the season, tourism in our country is estimated to have increased by 19.8% to the third quarter of the year.
The number of visitors to Turkey, meanwhile, is estimated to have increased by 22.4% over the same period of time. Official statistics of the Institute of Statistics speak for a `boom` of tourists in our country this year, especially during the summer months, but also on the eve of autumn. Thus, Shtatori records a 45% increase in foreign tourists. Significant growth records visitors from Italy, Poland or Germany.
Albania has become one of Europe’s most interesting destinations, with a number of foreign media specializing in tourism that have paid special attention to our country. Some of them, such as `Lonely Planet`, or agencies such as` booking` or `airbnb` have included Albania in the list of 10 major global destinations for 2019. All of these signal that good performance this year will continue even during 2019, why not, to break new records.
