US Department of State lists foreign investment barriers: Corruption, public procurement, monopolies are the main problems in Albania
The US Department of State (DASH) has updated the business climate report for Albania and 164 other countries around the world. The report analyzes various aspects and sectors of the Albanian economy, from laws to the banking system.
Regarding our country, the State Department emphasizes the fact that, in recent years, the legal and regulatory aspect in our country in terms of business, has undergone significant improvements, but on the other hand many challenges remain.
“Endemic corruption continues to undermine the rule of law and endanger economic development.”Foreign investors highlight corruption, especially in the judiciary, lack of transparency in public procurement, and poor enforcement of contracts as some of the main problems in Albania,” the US State Department report on the investment climate in our country continues.
The bureaucracy is also cited in the report as one of the main problems for foreign investors in our country. Even the weak tutelage of consumers, or the low awareness of the latter and the public, stand out as problems of investors.
Regarding the banking system, the report says that banks in our country have sufficient liquidity.
