VAT revenues down by 6.5 bln ALL in 2016 budget
The greatest failure of the fiscal administration for the past year has come from Value Added Tax, which had a negative impact on the fiscal indicators of this period.
According to statistics issued by the Ministry of Finance, revenues from VAT were realized in the value 131.3 billion ALL from 137.9 billion ALL that was planned.
Although there is a shortfall in this tax by 6.5 billion ALL, it is still higher than a year ago, when the 2015 budget cashed over 125.7 billion ALL from VAT.
One of the factors that may have contributed to the low revenues is the lower pace in the fight against informality, while the tax administration “softened” its action launched two years ago for the tax receipt. This has prompted many businesses not to issue VAT receipts.
Another factor that may have led to this result was the increase of refunds, which has moved up to 8.8 billion ALL for this period, as a result of improved measures aimed at simplifying and reducing reimbursement procedures.
The value of reimbursed VAT for this period last year was 7.6 billion ALL.
Value Added Tax (VAT) is a tax that applies to goods and services within the territory of Albania.
