Vienna Institute lowers Albania’s 2018 projections
The Vienna Institute has depreciated the projections for the Albanian economy this year.
This is the second time in a row that the Institute makes a devaluation.
The Institute’s latest projections covering the region indicate that Albania will grow by 3.8% this year and not 4.1% as it estimated in March this year.
On the other hand, there is optimism for next year, as projections have been revised up, from 4% to a 4.1% increase.
The same stands true for 2020 as projections have been revised up by 0.1 percentage points with the expected economic growth now fixed at 4%.
New projections for the current year make Albania lose the crown of the fastest growing country in the Western Balkans.
The good news is that this place is held by Kosovo, with a 3.8% growth projected for 2018.
In the next two years, Albania is projected to “grab” once again the first spot.
These conclusions stem from one of the regular reports published recently by international institutions, which have shed some doubts over the optimism surrounding Albanian economy.
According to experts and observers, the decline in the flow of foreign investment is considered the main cause of this slowdown.
Regarding the Western Balkans as a whole, the Vienna Institute has revised up its economic projections.
