Vlora Airport project: Gov’t sets aside ALL 20m for consulting contract
The Albanian government will invest ALL 20 million in contracting a company that will provide legal, financial and technical advice on the negotiations and the conclusion of a contract for the Vlora Airport with the three Turkish companies that have shown interest in this infrastructure work.
The Council of Ministers, through a decision dated March 21, authorizes the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy to set up a 3-member commission, which is tasked with conducting the selection procedure of the consulting company.
The procurement procedure will be special and accelerated, providing its signing within 7 days of sending the invitation.
Meanwhile, according to the government’s decision, if negotiations with the companies “Cengiz Construction & Kalyon & Colin Construction” result successful, finalizing with the signing of a contract, then consultancy costs will be paid by Turkish companies.
Meanwhile, otherwise, these costs will have to be paid by the state budget.
The law defining the special procedure to be followed for the Vlora Airport construction negotiations has entered into force on March 15, which has paved the way for launching discussions between the Albanian government and the three Turkish companies that have been interested in this investment.
Discussions can begin within 45 days of entry into force of the law, while their aim will be the design, construction, operation, maintenance and management of the airport, which is planned to be built in the area of Akernia.
Details of this investment have not been made public by the government, but it was previously stated that the Albanian state will only keep the risk of demand related to the number of passengers.
