WB’s governance indicators: Albania deteriorates in 2016 year-on-year
The World Bank has recently updated world governance indicators.
These indicators are six in total: responsibility, political stability and lack of violence, governance effectiveness, regulators’ quality, rule of law and control over corruption.
These six indicators are rated by percentage, where the higher the percentage, the better a country performs.
Recent data refer to 2016, and is compared to all previous years, while in this article are referring to 2015.
Compared to 2015, four of the six indicators as far as Albania is concerned have deteriorated, while progress has been reported in the indicator of corruption control and the quality of regulators.
As is apparent from the graph, Albania along with Kosovo are the last in the region regarding the 2016 rule of law indicator.
Regarding the control of corruption, meanwhile, with a percentage of 41, Albania trails behind Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
The same stands true for the indicator referring to the effectiveness of the government, where Albania succeeds in trailing only Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.
When it comes to political stability and lack of violence, Albania records the best performance in the region, though it has deteriorated compared to 2015.
Meanwhile, for the government’s responsibility, Albania is in second place, very close to Serbia, which is holds the first spot.
