1 in 5 graduates, unemployed – Professional education / Report: Labor market is weak
1 in 5 graduates of professional schools in the country, or 20 percent, remain unemployed. Which means that the labor market in Albania is relatively weak and unable to provide opportunities for young people to use their acquired professional skills or the professional workforce is far from meeting the demand of the country. In this conclusion, a recently published report was released, enabled by GIZ and the National Employment Service, regarding the employability of students graduating from vocational schools in the country.
According to the survey results, 38% of respondents stated that they are continuing their studies, as the country does not seem suitable for them in terms of employment opportunities after graduation. According to the report, it should be noted that the unemployment rate of young graduates has decreased slightly from the statistical report produced in 2018, where this level was 28% in Albania. This is also manifested by a slight increase in the percentage of students employed, or who continue their studies this year.
