23 foreign projects in the audit “filter” – Where did the money go? Control for over 80 million USD
All foreign-funded projects and grants executed during the past year will pass an external audit filter. The Minister of Finance has opened the relevant tender for the selection of the auditor and the focus will be on grants and projects financed by the World Bank for 2019 and the Albanian Development Fund.
According to the tender information, the objective is to audit the financial statements of the projects, to understand whether the external funds have been used in accordance with the relevant general conditions, the relevant financial arrangements, paying attention to the economic side and efficiency, and only for the purpose to whom funding has been provided. In total, there are 23 projects implemented during 2019 that will be audited, of which 16 are on behalf of the World Bank, which amount to 80.5 million dollars.
They are mainly implemented projects in the energy sector, environment, water sector, social assistance, road safety, health system, financial system, infrastructure, etc. While other projects that will be audited belong to those implemented by the Albanian Development Fund.
