Albania holds third position from bottom in Europe for power consumption: Eurostat data
Albania holds third position from bottom for power consumption in Europe.
Moreover, the country has lower consumption levels even than countries with smaller populations, such as Kosovo, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Macedonia, etc.
Only by Montenegro and Malta report a lower consumption of power than Albania, state the latest data published by Eurostat.
But while the data intend to show that consumption is still high, and should be reduced by 20% by 2020, Albania is a completely different case.
Although electricity is the main source of energy for both households and businesses in the country in the absence of gasification, Albania has a very low energy consumption, which is an indication of low development, lack of technology, lack of industry, and poverty.
Albania consumes 2.3 million units per year, equal to one million tons of oil per year, based on the unit used by Eurostat in this case, given that the goal is to reduce the use of energy and to safeguard environment.
As it is clear from the chart, Albania has a significant difference with the countries of the region in this regard.
