Albania’s air transport marks a 9.3% rise in January 2017 – Ferries figure falling
Institute of Statistics INSTAT has published the official data of the transport sector in Albania.
Referring to the data, it turns out that air flights have gained ground against marine lines, as well as in transportation of goods and passengers.
Data for January 2017 show a rise in the number of passengers using airlines and a drop in passengers using sea lines.
The same phenomenon has also been observed for freight.
The volume of goods loaded/unloaded at ports is 218 thousand ton.
Compared with January 2016, this index decreased by 10.3%.
In the port of Durres were loaded/unloaded 97.7% of the quantity of goods loaded/unloaded in all the ports of the country.
The volume of goods transported by rail per kilometer increased by 24.8% compared with January 2016, mainly in international transport.
The volume of goods transported by air has grown by 5%, compared with January 2016.
15 companies in total operate in the air transport market, and more than 1,806 flights were performed over January 2016, marking an increase of 9.3%.
During January 2017 the number of passengers traveling with the airline increased by 28.6%. Passenger air transport occupies the largest share with 71.6%.
The number of passengers traveling with sea lines is 75.984 persons, and compared with January 2016 this index decreased by 3.5%.
